One of Indonesian Manpower from Banyumas Jumped From The Second Floor

Unfortunate fate happened again to Indonesian guest workers who worked in Arab. This happened to Suprihatin, Indonesian guest worker from Banyumas, Central Java.

She determined to jump from the second floor of her employer’s house in Riyadh, Arab. She did it because her employer threatened her by a blade. She is still lying weak in Semesi Hospital, Arab, up to the moment.

Miftahudin, who is the victim’s brother, gone to The House of People’s Representative Banyumas to complaint about this case. He said that his family wanted to bring Suprihatin back to Indonesia, but she was deterred by her employer.

He said that his sister often received rough treatment from her employer. It was the reason why she jumped from the second floor.

She has already worked four times overseas. But this time, she got a bad luck. She was moved twice in four months.

Suprihatin was departed by PT Alfa Nusantara Perkasa. Meanwhile, People’s of Representative said that they have tried to complaint to Manpower and Transmigration Division to vet this case.

Dozens of The Indonesian Guest Workers Were Threatened by Death Sentence

BNP2TKI confessed that they are facing the problem of sending back Indonesian guest workers who were proven guilty in Arab. Dozens of the Indonesian guest workers in Arab faced death sentence.

Chief of BNP2TKI, Moh Jumhur Hidayat said that many of Indonesian guest workers in Arabic who were proven guilty got the death sentence. He said after attending the declaration of The Combination of The Association of All The Driver of Indonesia in Puspitek, Banten.

Unfortunately, Jumhur did not explain the existence of these Indonesian guest workers. Moreover, BNP2TKI collided by Islamic law system that was applied in that country. He said that they found the problem of releasing the Indonesian guest workers in Arabic who were threatened by death sentence.

The problem was the process of amnesty must came from victim’s family. This condition was different with another countries, such as in Malaysia and Singapore.

Jumhur said that they succeeded in helping and releasing several Indonesian guest workers who were threatened by death sentence. As many as 7 Indonesian guest workers in Malaysia and 3 people in Singapore succeeded in beating the rap a few years ago.

To be known, Yanti Iriyanti, one of Indonesian guest workers in Arab who was threatened by death sentence has been executed. She was proven guilty of murdering and stealing money from her employer.

Hope of The Indonesian Guest Workers for SBY

The visit President SBY to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia was hoped resolve all the problems of The Indonesian guest workers between Indonesia - Malaysia. The meeting this time discussed about special problem.

Chief of Faction PPP, Lukman Hakim Syaifudin, said that there has been a meeting between the two heads of state, but in this meeting, they focused on Indonesian guest workers problems and economic aspects. He said that Indonesian guest workers problems got a bigger portion than previous meeting.

The President has been meeting with Prime Minister Malaysia to discuss about the effort protection for Indonesian guest workers in Malaysia. They also discussed about the opening of plantation of oil palm.

Two heads of state carried out the meeting on 11th and 12th January, 2008. President was accompanied by Minister of Commerce Marie Elka Pangestu, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Purnomo Yusgiantoro, Minister of Manpower and Transmigration Erman Suparno, and Minister of Foreign Affairs Hasan Wirayuda.

Hundreds of Indonesian Guest Workers Are Deported from Malaysia

Malaysia began deportations of 829 Indonesian overseas workers (TKI) after the workers had served time in Malaysian prisons or undergone other punishments, mostly for visa or passport irregularities.

Most of them were caned with a rattan stick. Said Didik Trimardjono, an Indonesian consular official in Johor Bahru. Deputy Indonesian ambassador to Malaysia, A Mohamad Fachir, sees off 52 guest workers being deported.

Meanwhile Renvyannis Gazali, Indonesia’s consular general in Johor Baru, recently toured a number of Malaysian prisons and said dozens of the Indonesian female inmates there were pregnant or had recently given birth. Dozens were pregnant, I saw dozens of babies there.

Fachir says he doesn’t know whether the women fell pregnant in prison or before being arrested. He says he often visits prisons to check on conditions for Indonesian inmates, and that these conditions are often very poor.

The Malaysian immigration office says in 2006 Indonesia accounted for the biggest number of foreign workers in the country at 1,174,013 people, followed by 213,551 Nepalese, 138,313 Indians, and 109,219 Burmese.

The Director of the Indonesian Sociology Research Institute, Khairudin Harahap, says there are currently 53 Indonesian guest workers on death row or facing death sentences in Malaysia, with most of them being held at the Sungai Buluh prison in Selanggor.

Of the 53 thirty seven are from Aceh, seven from North Sumatera, two from Madura, and one each from Riau, Tulungagung, Bali, and NTB, while for three others their places of origin are not known. Two among the 53 are women, they being Maria Palo who is probably from Sulawesi and Mariana Mariaji from Tulung Agung in East Java.

The Union of The Arabian Emirate Needed 370.000 Indonesian Manpower

The Union of The Arabian Emirate (UEA) opened 370 thousand new employment opportunies for Indonesian. Hundreds of thousands of new appointments moved in the formal sector of the construction field, the health, and tourism.

Manpower Minister UEA government, Ali Abdullah Al-Kaabhi, said at this time UEA often needed formal sector manpower of Indonesia. He said that his side the appointment of the Indonesian guest worker in UEA became the co-operation G to G, when ending signed the MOU with Manpower and Transmigration Minister, Erman Suparno.

He added that UEA will not restrict the amount of manpower. About the pay, he added, the UEA government will not determine the standard. The determination of the matter of the pay was matched with the mechanism of the market that placed skills and the expertise as denied measured.
